French State invests 6 million in Lac de Moisson

Last week we were invited by the new director of Lac de Moisson to know each other and to prepare the 2009 season. He said he had a surprise for us…

At our arrival at the lake, we were surprised by the action on the property: there were vans, trucks, and bulldozers all over the place. Gardeners were busy planting trees and builders were placing the latest bricks.

A little further a man was waving at us with a big smile on his face: Mr. Labert, the new director. During our conversation, he told us that the French State had invested six million Euros in the venue!

First of all, a new modern reception was build to receive the clients at their arrival. Chrystel, a nice lady, welcomes the clients and briefs them about the facilities, food and beverages, regulations,  etc.

Next to the new reception, a fantastic restaurant has been built with a terrace that provides stunning views over the lake. Excellent food is served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. To give you an idea, the daily menu costs only 10,30 Euros!

Here, the anglers can get their bread, croissants, beverages, etc.

Another part of the investment went to the brand new rooms and studios. The finishings are nice and the views over the lake are amazing. The studios have 2 beds, a completely fitted kitchen, chairs, table and a spacious bathroom. Towels and sheets are included in the price. A studio costs 40 Euros per night. The rooms have two or four beds and a bathroom. Towels and sheets are included in the price. Price ist 15,50 Euros per person per night. It’s possible to order breakfast in the room.

In this new building, new WC’s and showers are available for the anglers.

Security is very important for the management. Now a security agency controls the lake with two to four agents and a dog. By night the whole venue is closed to the public.

And, last but not least, the management restocked the lake with plenty of new fish to keep the impressive stock of Lac de Moisson in balance.

We must say we were overwhelmed by these improvements and we think our clients will love them. Anglers that like to make a trip to France with their family can lodge the non-anglers in a studio, while they stay in their bivvy on the banks. Some anglers like to sleep in a room when it’s still cold outside. We also remind that Lac de Moisson is a very attractive lake for the real specimen hunter. If you have already been at Cassien or Lac de Der, you will surely enjoy this lake! Several carp are 30kg+ and the record of the lake is 32kg…

Depth maps from Lac de Moisson and Iktus

We proudly announce that we are now able to offer professional depth maps from our venues. Our clients love this idea because they don’t have to lose any time studying the bottom. Now, they arrive at the lake and they can immediately start fishing the strategically chosen spots.

Although most of our venues have a flat bottom, there are some lakes that have a very irregular bottom. Through these depth maps we discovered that Lac de Moisson and Iktus have a very interesting bottom with lots of hidden fishing spots. The architects that made these maps, discovered that at Lac de Moisson, there is a very interesting plateau in front of swims 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 about 200 meters from the bank. We recommend taking enough line on your spool to be able to fish this spot.

At Iktus we immediately saw that there were huge holes, hard sandy and stony patches and plateaus. We are completely convinced that these depth maps will make fishing a lot easier, and they will bring more catches. The anglers will fish spots they’ve never fished before.

Carp Fishing at Lac De Grosley in Normandy

Having never fished in France before both me and my son-in law (Ade) booked a week’s fishing with Fishermans Holidays which was arranged with Thomas from their main office the support and help given to go was 1st class and very informative with lots of advice.

On getting to Grosley we were greeted by Eric and his wife who made us very welcome with a complementary cup of tea.

We were then shown around our swims and give some tips on how to fish. Although we were tired from the travel from Cornwall via Dover we very quickly got set up and fishing with four rods each and I soon had a bend in my rods with a nice fish 28.5lbs.

We had set ourselves a target of one fish a day and this was blown away with some fantastic results with 67 Carp between us in total, 6x 30+ (35.10lbs) biggest by Ade. 45 x 20lbs plus and I (Neil) caught a lake record Sturgeon of 19.12lbs
A big thanks goes to the help from Howard at Nutrabaits in selecting the bait for the trip nearly all the catches came from Trigger and Salmon-Caviar and Black pepper Boilies. The time spent at the bait centre was well worth all the time prior to our trip.

Eric and his wife also provided excellent food throughout the week and the need to take your own food is not required, the site facilities are excellent.

As you can see we had a fantastic time and would recommend this experience to any one reading this we are definitely looking forward to going back again in May next year, I have some great photographs that got better the end of the week.
